Fundacja Edukacyjna Jana Karskiego, Jan Karski Educational Foundation’s sister organization in Warsaw, Poland, has participated in the creation and distribution of an appeal directed to the heads of the states of Poland and Israel and signed by the Polish Righteous Among the Nations. The purpose of this initiative, launched by the Polish Association of the Righteous Among the Nations, was to call on the Polish and Israeli leaders to return to the path of dialogue and reconciliation. The text of the appeal in two language versions was submitted on Monday, February 26 to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, to the office of Sejm (lower chamber of Polish parliament), and the Ambassador of Israel to Poland, Anna Azari. The appeal weighed in on Poland’s new law penalizing all those who put the responsibility or co-responsibility for the Holocaust on the Polish state or Polish nation.

The President of Fundacja Edukacyjna Jana Karskiego, Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka, who is an honorary member of the Polish Association of the Righteous Among the Nations, was leading this project and has also voiced her concerns about the new legislation in a previously published interview, which can be read here.
