The Ghetto Fighters House Museum will feature an evening about Jan Karski on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jan. 27, 2019.
The Ghetto Fighters House Museum will host an evening dedicated to the extraordinary story of Jan Karski, Righteous Among the Nations, known as "one man who tried to stop the Holocaust".
Having received the Jan Karski Eagle Award last June, the Ghetto Fighters' House sees great importance in sustaining the legacy of Jan Karski, whose actions prove that even in times of darkness, one can still show humanity and moral responsibility.
Their program starts at 18:00 with refreshments and then greetings from Yigal Cohen, who is the General Director of the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum and Judith Stelmach, Project Manager for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
An artistic program follows at 19:00 with Dov Elbaum with the theme of "On the Concept of Humaneness." Then Ziva Postec, Chief Editor of the documentary "Shoah," will talk about her work with filmmaker Claude Lanzmann. Jan Karski memorably appeared in that film.
The evening will feature video screenings of segments from Karski's testimony in "Shoah" and dramatic readings of excerpts from Karski's memoir, "The Story of a Secret State."
Then, from 16:30 until 18:00, participants will be welcome to tour the museum exhibitions, which will be open especially for this evening.
