Five Karski Winners at American Library Association Conference in Chicago

The American Library Association's Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago ended July 1, 2013 with five winners of a copy of Story of a Secret State at the Polish American Librarians Association booth in the exhibit hall.

The winners are: Neil A. Chase, special collections coordinator for Western Michigan University Libraries in Kalamazoo; Cynthia Czesak, director of the Paterson Free Public Library in New Jersey; Ewa Jankowska, director of the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System in Plattsburgh, New York; Christine Kujawa, assistant director of the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library in North Dakota; and Paulina Poplawska, assistant director of the Liberal Memorial Library in Liberal, Kansas.

Georgetown University Press, publisher of the new, definitive edition of Jan Karski’s classic memoir, donated the prizes. The mission of the Polish American Librarians Association is to positively impact services provided to library patrons of Polish descent and individuals interested in Polish culture. Some 20,000 librarians and library supporters attended the ALA conference.
