Although this is a US based initiative, the life and work of Jan Karski is clearly international. He has clearly inspired many by being a Professor at Georgetown University; probably this means his message was passed on to many that have gone into the US Government as well as into the private sector, so it is a great Polish-American story. It seems to me that where Jan Karski’s story is still a very current one is in how time and again people have trouble believing a massacre is going on and act too slowly or not at all, and then would prefer to just forget in the hopes it won’t happen again. This way the story is kept alive and current and will inspire people to question or take a different stand in the future or even just voice a different interpretation.
