Dr. Agnieszka Gliwa is an MD and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. She graduated from the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland in 1996 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. After finishing her transitional year of residency in Krakow, she moved to New York in 1997. She completed her internal medicine residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2001 and her Endocrinology Fellowship at NYU Medical Center in 2003.
After working as an endocrinologist at Staten Island Hospital for two years, she returned to SUNY Downstate and joint the faculty staff in 2005. In 2008 she was appointed Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship. Additionally, she also has a successful private practice in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She has been serving the local community, including a large Polish population, as a primary care physician and endocrinologist since 2007. Professional memberships include: American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Medical Association, and the Endocrine Society.
