Karski Exhibit Opens in the City Where He was Born

The elegant Poznanski Palace was the site of the official opening of the exhibition “The world knew. Jan Karski's mission for humanity”. The exhibit contains are 22 panels in Polish prepared by the Museum of Polish History describing Jan Karski’s life and mission.

At the April 8, 2013 exhibit opening, a group of great speakers included Hanna Zdanowska (the Mayor of Lodz), Joanna Podolska (Director of Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue), Ewa Wierzyńska (the Museum of Polish History) and Orna T. Blum (Counselor for Public Affairs at the Embassy of the US).

The event attracted many guests, among them relatives of Jan Karski, including Jadwiga Lenoch-Bukowska, a cousin of Jan Karski, born in 1912. She is the daughter of Karol Kozielewski and Stanislawa Zuchowska, grand-daughter of Andrzej Kozielewski. Jan Karski’s birth name was Jan Kozielewski.

The exhibit will continue to be displayed in the Palace's garden in the Manufaktura until April 25, 2013. The exhibition will then continue its journey around various cities in Poland.
